Helps Automotive Manufacturer Meet Customer Shipping and EDI Requirements
KINNELON,
N.J.—(BusinessWire)—November 13, 2001—An aging PC-based
data collection system and strict requirements from automotive
manufacturers sent Green Tokai Company, Ltd. in search of a flexible
automated data collection solution that was compatible with their
enterprise solution and would meet their immediate and long-term needs.

Brooksville, Ohio-based Green Tokai supplies automotive parts to Honda,
Toyota and other automakers. In
1998 Green Tokai implemented RF Express for MFG/PRO, an online, real-time
automated data collection solution, to satisfy customer and industry
requirements for containerized finished goods shipping.
Today they’re using RF Express for MFG/PRO to
interface with two electronic data interchange (EDI) systems used by Honda
(Delta and Star) and they recently received approval for Toyota’s
E-kanban. “Honda and Toyota
have exacting standards that they require us to meet,” said Keith
Johnson, assistant MIS manager, Green Tokai.

the EDI providers went through a detailed approval process with Honda that
required compliance with Honda’s Star/Delta/GPCS requirements,” said
Jim Miceli, Eagle’s consultant to Green Tokai.
The requirements included EDI transmission and receipt of parts
ordering information, and electronic transmission and capture of data
through bar code labels. “Any
supplier who wants to do business with Honda must adhere to these
requirements,”* says Bill Paone, executive vice-president, Eagle
Consulting. “The most
effective means for them to do so is via RF Express for MFG/PRO and
EDI.”
“One
of the biggest things that RF Express for MFG/PRO has allowed us to do,”
continued Johnson, “in addition to meeting the Honda EDI requirements,
is to perform multiple scanning at multiple sites simultaneously.
There’s less opportunity for human error and tighter inventory
control.”
