Replaces Competitor at Multinational Manufacturer
KINNELON,
N.J. -- (BusinessWire) – (May 24, 2004) –
Hilite International is a privately
held, rapidly growing, multinational corporation with manufacturing
facilities in France, Germany and the US. Hilite's products perform
critical functions for engine control, 4-wheel torque transfer,
transmission and vehicle frame systems.
In its search for a platform for
continued growth, the company replaced its home-grown enterprise system
with QAD MFG/PRO in 1996. But
its automotive customers' demands were growing as well, and the company
was soon faced with the need to deploy scanning technology to meet ASN
requirements. Hilite selected an automated data collection (ADC) and bar
coding vendor to help them meet the automakers' requirements, but before
long that solution failed to keep up with the company's need for a more
sophisticated global solution.

automated data collection and bar coding system became necessary for
several reasons," said Bryan Holman, Hilite's Corporate IS Manager.
"On the business side, we needed a real-time ADC/bar coding
system like RF Express™ for MFG/PRO that could handle a multi-site,
multinational rollout to newly acquired sites in Europe.
"On the systems side, we
were saddled with outmoded architecture that cost us performance, speed
and even stability. The
system was not real-time, it utilized a secondary (off-line) server and
all data from the wireless devices had to transfer through a PC before
reaching its destination. "
