Consulting Contributes to Significant Workload Reduction at Black and
Decker
KINNELON,
N.J.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—JANUARY 8, 2001—The Kwikset Corporation, a subsidiary of Black &
Decker® reduced their product distribution requirement processing (DRP)
by 75 percent with a bar code system that integrated seamlessly into their
enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
"We went from 15-20 steps in the DRP shipping process to 4-5
steps," says Jaime Altonaga, project manager at Kwikset, in Lake
Forest, CA. "We looked
at several vendors, but Eagle Consulting and Development came closer than
anybody to matching our existing ERP system functionality
one-on-one."
According
to Altonaga, the additional functionality that Eagle's RF Express™ for
MFG/PRO® brought to the table was the pallet identification or license
plate number (LPN). "We
had a requirement to integrate data from the ERP package to a completely
different system that our parent company has and this pallet I.D. (bar
code) helped," says Altonaga. "It
enabled us to provide the parent company with data that they
expected—data that was not maintained in the system prior to the
implementation of the bar code system. It also streamlined considerably
our two major processes—our work order completion process and our DRP
shipment and receiving process."
He added, "RF Express for MFG/PRO was used in many instances
to integrate our systems, and the plants are very happy with it."
