Finished Goods Inventory
Accuracy Climbs to Above 90 Percent

the commodities-driven world of plastics and films, razor thin turnaround

implementing RF Express for MFG/PRO, information about Atlantis'
production and inventory movement lagged a day behind the actual event,”

Atlantis
Plastics’ information technology director John Graham explains,
"Much of our business involves producing and shipping product in real
time. Inventory does not sit around. Frequently, we make in the morning
what we need to ship that afternoon. In order to ship, we need immediate
knowledge of available inventory at that time."
RF Express
handled this challenge by capturing data in real time and tracking the
movement of material from one point to another. In addition, the bar code
technology created a system of checks and balances that improved accuracy.
Atlantis now uses two sources of inflows into the finished goods data: the
actual receipt of finished goods through bar coding and labor reporting on
enterprise application MFG/PRO.
Since the
implementation of RF Express for QAD MFG/PRO, employees match the quantity
entered at labor reporting with the quantity received through bar coding
-- a process that has driven the finished goods inventory accuracy percent
up to the high 90s in some facilities. Today, last-minute customer
requests can be acted on with full confidence.
